What is PLA?
PLA is a bioplastic made in the USA. This material is obtained from renewable and natural raw materials such as corn. The starch (glucose) is extracted from the plants and converted with enzymes to make PLA Filament. PLA is not based on fossil raw materials and is food-safe. PLA can be recycled and is biodegradable under industrial composting conditions (above 55-70ºC). PLA is more sustainable than typical plastic.
